Cannabis : an American History
Livre
Edité par Self Made Hero. Londres - 2019
In the 16th century, during his violent colonial campaign, Cortés introduced hemp cultivation to Mexico. In secret, locals began growing the plant for consumption. Cannabis entered the United States through immigrant labor. Once the plant was shared with black workers, American legislators were quick to decry cannabis as the vice of the "inferior races". This was the era of propaganda designed to sow fear in public opinion. Dishonest, discriminatory campaigns by legislators and the press spread vicious lies about a plant that has been used by mankind for thousands of years. The result: cannabis is classified in Schedule 1, on a par with heroin.
